30,000 Australians die from sudden cardiac arrest each year, including up to 4 people each week who are under the age of 35. Sudden cardiac arrest is the largest cause of death in Australia and can strike anyone at any time or age. The critical message is that death is preventable when a defibrillator (AED<\/a>) is available nearby.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

According to St. John Ambulance, only 1 in 5 workplaces in NSW have a defibrillator on site. Work Health and Safety legislation is currently being reviewed to regulate access to AEDs, but in the meantime you can take action. Having an AED within 3 minutes of every Australian could save up to 15,000 Australian lives a year.<\/p>\n
