Every year, Australians <\/span>us<\/span>e over 3 billion cans.<\/span> The average Australian sends\u00a0 3.5kg of cans<\/span> to landfill each year. That<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>is<\/span> enough to make 40,000 refrigerators<\/span>.<\/span> 51 percent<\/span> of them<\/span> are soft drink cans, while 31 percent are alcoholic beverage cans.<\/span> Moreover, i<\/span>n Australia<\/span> over<\/span> 94<\/span> percent<\/span> of households have access to recycling facilities<\/span>;<\/span> however<\/span>,<\/span> only <\/span>56<\/span> percent<\/span> of cans <\/span>are <\/span>returned for recycling.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

1.<\/strong> The first tip for recycling food cans is to determine whether or not the container is recyclable. Just because something appears to be suitable for recycling does not imply that it is. It does<\/span>n\u2019t <\/span>need to be sterile; simply empty the can and rinse it with water to ensure no scraps or material remain inside. In fact, a<\/span>erosols are one of the easiest cans to recycle, but only 35<\/span> percent<\/span> are currently recycled in yellow bins. <\/span>Aerosol cans typically have recyclable plastic caps <\/span>that<\/span> need to be recycled alongside other plastic recyclables.<\/span> Make sure to clean the aerosol cans before recycling them<\/span>. Properly disposing of paint cans has numerous benefits, including helping to keep our waterways clean, diverting waste from landfills, and increasing resource recovery.
