With mandatory carbon reporting on the horizon, there will soon be increased transparency regarding waste within businesses. In Australia, approximately 76 million tonnes (Mt) of waste are generated annually, equivalent to about 2.95 tonnes per person, underscoring the urgency for both individuals and companies to adopt greener practices. A recent study conducted by COS surveyed over 1,000 Australian employees, revealing that 66% express a desire for their companies to prioritize recycling or waste reduction efforts, while 74% consider regular recycling as the most impactful action for the environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On the findings, Co-CEO of COS, Belinda Lyone says, \u201cAustralia\u2019s recycling rate currently sits stagnant at 60%, but this study highlights how many employees actually want to recycle more but are lacking the tools to do so in the office. If businesses make it easy to recycle and reduce waste this figure could significantly increase and greatly benefit the planet.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
