The women who have marched, protested and spoken at demonstrations and national gatherings for recognition and demanded a better life, greater opportunities or equal rights for Indigenous children, families and people.\u00a0<span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:1,&quot;335551620&quot;:1,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p>They are pioneers, trailblazers and caregivers who have empowered past generations and paved the way for generations to come.\u00a0 Each woman who has contributed to social progress for Indigenous culture is someone that all Australians can be proud of.\u00a0 They have played a big part in calling for Australia to become more educated and understanding of our Indigenous history and continue to do so in a huge variety of roles.<\/p><h2>COS\u00ae at NAIDOC Week<\/h2><p>COS\u00ae employees are among so many attending various NAIDOC Day events around the country this week. One of these was held at Sydney University, where hundreds gathered to hear The Honourable Linda Burney MP speak. Linda then joined a panel of inspiring Indigenous women, including Professor Juanita Sherwood, Acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Indigenous Strategy and services at The University of Sydney, and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.news.com.au\/lifestyle\/real-life\/good-news\/high-achiever-bianca-hall-mentors-secret-to-her-success\/news-story\/49383cf8d4f7d5acf02877e31ae8eb4a\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bianca Hunt<\/a>, the\u00a022-year-old\u00a0Co-CEO for the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/aimementoring.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Australian Indigenous Mentoring Experience (AIME)\u00a0<\/a>program.\u00a0<span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559738&quot;:40,&quot;335559739&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p>Events such as this encourage us to be advocates and activists for a more prosperous Indigenous future. COS\u00ae believes in equal opportunities for all, and we also believe that Australia\u2019s business sector has a responsibility and multiple opportunities to make a positive impact within communities throughout Australia. We actively support the\u00a0\u201cClosing the Gap\u201d initiative, focused on reducing the health, education, employment and life expectancy gap between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous Australians.<\/p><h2>Supporting Indigenous Business and Community<\/h2><p>The last 4 years has seen an increase in our involvement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander suppliers, where we currently spend $2 million annually. In 2014, after a Supply Nation introduction, COS\u00ae formed a partnership with <a href=\"https:\/\/muruoffice.com.au\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Muru Group<\/a>, a\u00a0unique national and wholly Indigenous owned office supplier.\u00a0<span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:1,&quot;335551620&quot;:1,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p>Muru is an Indigenous word meaning \u201cpathway\u201d and Muru Group was established to help create employment and education pathways for Indigenous people. In 2016, the effectiveness of this partnership was acknowledged at the Supply Nation Connect Awards, where COS\u00ae and Muru Group were awarded the Supplier Diversity Partnership of the Year Award. Between\u00a02017\u00a0and 2018, Muru Group donated $50,000 to an early learning\u00a0centre\u00a0in Far North Queensland. The program provides literacy and numeracy support to 150 residents in the local community, many of whom are under the age of 5.
