Kookaburra Frequently Asked Questions
Who is COS?
COS is Australia’s largest family-owned and operated workplace supplies business, led by second-generation sisters, Co-CEOs Belinda and Amie Lyone. Founded in 1977 by the late Dominique Lyone, COS began as a small business with a vision for exceptional service and social responsibility.
Over the past 45 years, COS has grown from a small business to a national operation with over 600 staff and warehouses in every state and territory. Every day, we deliver thousands of products to workplaces, schools, and hospitals across Australia, helping to keep them healthy, safe, and productive.
COS has always been committed to continued annual growth organically (i.e. business development and category extension) however over recent years we have been more actively looking for acquisition opportunities as well. In May 2018, we acquired Lyreco, in August 2019 we acquired Vital Office in Melbourne and more recently in October 2024 we acquired Tosco which contributed to our accelerated growth in Far North Queensland.
Why did COS acquire Kookaburra?
Over many years we have admired the Kookaburra business and what they have been able to achieve in the School and the Audio-Visual markets. Kookaburra is one of Australia’s largest independent education dealers with staff across the east coast. This acquisition represents a strategic move for COS to expand our footprint in the education sector and capitalise on the synergies between our two companies.
As part of this transition, we are proud to introduce Kookaburra Audio Visual & Technologies a new specialist brand dedicated to providing expert Audio Visual and Technology solutions to schools and businesses across Australia. Led by CEO Justin Bielefeld and a team of AV specialists, this new business will operate via kookaburra.com.au, continuing Kookaburra’s legacy in this space with even more focus and expertise.
Will Audio Visual Products & Servicing still be available?
Yes, Audio Visual & Technology products and servicing will continue to be available through our newly established specialist brand, Kookaburra Audio Visual and Technologies. Led by CEO Justin Bielefeld and his expert team, the business will offer an even wider range of products and services, including ongoing installation and support.
COS has proudly welcomed all permanent Kookaburra employees as part of the acquisition, ensuring continuity of service and expertise. If you have a specific question regarding your service contract, please contact the 1300 766 997 or email support@kookaburra.com.au.
How will this change in ownership affect my company/processes?
We’re excited to share that from 1 July 2025, all Education customers currently ordering through Kookaburra will be transitioned to COS for their future school supply orders, including for the upcoming Back to School season. Audio Visual customers with an AV account will continue ordering AV products through Kookaburra. We know you have questions, and we’re here to help every step of the way. Over the last few weeks, we’ve been busy getting your account set up to ensure a smooth transition with a priority to not disrupt service in anyway. It is important to confirm that your agreement remains valid and unaffected by this decision. It will continue to be serviced as usual and there will be no changes to our commitment to service excellence. COS have proudly committed to offer employment to all Kookaburra employees.
Blending COS and Kookaburra businesses and teams will deliver synergies that will benefit the school and workplace buyer. Schools and Businesses across Australia will be delighted that COS is a clear locally owned and operated alternative, with significant buying influence to deliver competitive prices, a larger product range, world class website, and a leadership team that is passionate about service excellence. We believe that by joining forces, we can leverage our combined strengths to further enhance our offerings and provide even greater value to customers.
Do I need to start ordering from the COS website?

Will the phone number change?
You can continue to call 1300 766 997 as you always have. From 1st July 2025, all Kookaburra contact details will be redirected to COS, so your call will still reach the right team.
For any questions relating to quotes, orders, returns, invoices, or general enquiries, you’ll be automatically directed to COS.
You can also contact COS directly on 1300 88 22 44, email info@cos.net.au, or connect with us via Live Chat at cos.net.au. We’re here to help.
Will the product range change? Will existing products still be available?
COS offers a significantly broader product range than Kookaburra, spanning categories such as education, bathroom, kitchen, furniture, and general office supplies. As the integration of our two businesses progresses, we’ll be reviewing both product ranges to ensure we continue to offer the best selection for our customers. You may notice some different brand names at COS, but the product features and quality you rely on will remain the same.
We also offer thousands of products across our COS-owned range, including paper, office essentials, education supplies, and furniture delivering great value every day. In addition, we have exclusive access to leading brands in the Australian market, such as Muru Group (First Nations range), New Future paper, Power Fresh cleaning and hygiene, A+Plus writing instruments, Superprint toner cartridges, Printec labels, Pukka notebooks, and Stick’N sticky notes.
For Audio Visual and Technology products, you’ll now have access to an even wider and more specialised range through Kookaburra Audio Visual and Technologies, led by a dedicated team of AV and Technology experts at kookaburra.com.au.

Should I continue to contact my Kookaburra sales representative going forward?
We’re pleased to confirm that the entire Kookaburra sales team has remained with the business as part of the transition. COS has proudly welcomed all Kookaburra permanent employees, so you can continue working with your existing sales representative as normal. If there are any changes to your account manager, your current representative will work closely with their COS counterpart to ensure a seamless handover and continued support.
Who do I contact for BTS quotes and pricing?
For any Back to School quotes or pricing enquiries, please continue to contact your current Kookaburra representative. If there is a change to your account manager after 1st July, your current rep will work closely with the new COS contact to ensure a smooth handover. Wherever possible, introductions will be made in person to maintain consistency and support throughout the transition.
How will I be informed of any changes?
You will continue to be updated regularly on the transition plan via your account manager and direct via email. We are committed to a smooth transition of all customers. In the meantime, if you have any other questions, please don’t hesitate to contact your Kookaburra account manager or customer service.
Will my driver stay the same?
As part of the transition, your deliveries will most likely be handled by a COS driver rather than a third-party provider. COS has been proudly servicing the Newcastle market for over 10 years and delivering across Australia for more than 45 years with a strong reputation for reliability and customer care. We know how important the delivery experience is, and that your driver often knows your preferences. Our experienced COS drivers are committed to providing a professional, consistent, and friendly service you can rely on.
