New research commissioned by COS reveals that one in three Australian workers would accept a lower salary to work for a company with strong environmental and social credentials. The study found younger generations are driving this shift, with 44% of Gen Z and 38% of Millennials willing to trade pay for purpose, compared to just 22% of Gen X and 14% of Baby Boomers. Yet fewer than half of employees believe their employer has a genuine plan to reach Net Zero by 2050.

COS Co-CEO Belinda Lyone says “Younger generations are redefining workplace loyalty; they see sustainability as proof a company is future ready.” COS has led by example, achieving Net Zero Operations and 100% Renewable Electricity across all its facilities in 2024 through initiatives like solar farms, electric fleets, and waste reduction programs. “Reaching Net Zero was never the finish line; it’s the starting point for deeper action,” Belinda Lyone adds.
