World Kindness Day, celebrated on 13th November, is a special reminder that small, thoughtful actions can create big ripples of positivity.

Teaching children to practice kindness every day is an important part of their growth, but it can sometimes feel challenging to make it fun and engaging. That’s why we’ve created the Be Kind: Spinner Wheel, a fun, hands-on worksheet designed especially for parents, teachers, and caretakers to make learning about kindness interactive and enjoyable.

With this worksheet, spreading kindness becomes a playful game. Each spin reveals a simple, achievable act, whether it’s helping a classmate, offering a compliment, or lending a hand at home.

We’ve included easy, step-by-step instructions to guide you in creating, colouring, and assembling your spinner, offering a fun and practical way to celebrate World Kindness Day while fostering empathy, compassion, and positive social habits in children.

Materials Required:

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Step 1: Download the Worksheet

Start by downloading and printing the Be Kind – Spinner Wheel worksheet for each student.

Step 2: Introduce the Spinner Wheel

Show the worksheet to the students and explain how it works. Each section on the wheel has a kindness prompt for example:

  • “Write a thank-you note”
  • “Give someone a compliment”
  • “Help clean up”
  • “Share a toy”

Tell students that when they spin the wheel, it will land on one of these prompts  and they’ll either role-play, practice, or do that kind action.

Step 3: Colour the Wheel and Sections

  • Before cutting out the wheel, colour in each section and the acts of kindness listed.
  • Use bright, contrasting colours for each segment so that the spinner is easy to read.
  • Adding colours makes the spinner more visually appealing and fun to use.

Step 4: Assemble Your Spinner

  • Use a pencil tip to make a small hole in the centre of the wheel.
  • Place a paper clip or paper binder in the middle so it can spin.
  • Hold the paper clip with a pencil or a paper binder in place pushed through the hole.
  • Make sure the paper clip or paper binder can spin freely and stop clearly on one wedge.

Step 5: Test the Spinner

  • Check that the spinner moves smoothly and lands clearly on different sections.
  • If it sticks or keeps landing in the same spot, adjust the paper clip or centre pin slightly.
  • Once it spins evenly, it’s ready to use.

Step 6: Play and Be Kind!

  • Take turns spinning the wheel.
  • Read the kindness prompt out loud.
  • Act it out, practice it, or do it right away.
  • Celebrate each act of kindness with a cheer, clap, or high-five!
