The products we supply can pass through several businesses before reaching a customer. That makes it important to keep checking the conditions in which they are made, and to look at the services and installers that support our operations too.
COS’s Modern Slavery Statement FY25 outlines the work completed during the year ended 30 June 2025. This included eight visits to overseas factories manufacturing private or exclusive label products for COS, an updated approach to assessing supplier risk, and broader checks for service providers.
What did COS do in FY25?
Members of our strategic sourcing team completed eight in-person sensory audits at overseas factories, up from four in FY24. These visits allow our team to observe working conditions directly and look for potential risks to workers, including modern slavery risks.
We also reviewed and updated how we assess risks across product and service suppliers. A new supplier governance dashboard helps us track compliance and completed audits, with particular attention to suppliers with worker accommodation and those in higher risk locations.
Looking beyond the products we sell
Modern slavery risks can also arise in the services a business uses. During FY25, we continued our focus on suppliers such as cleaning services, maintenance providers and third-party labour hire agencies. We aligned reviews of these suppliers with contract renewals and extended our supplier induction process to cover large solutions projects and installation providers.
As COS expanded its education and audio visual offering, we also consulted with Kookaburra Audio Visual & Technologies on the statement and our approach to its operations and supply chain.
Keeping our team and customers involved
Modern slavery awareness remains part of induction for all new COS employees, with specialised training for people whose roles involve sourcing, recruitment, facilities and compliance. Employees, suppliers, customers and members of the public can also raise concerns anonymously through our reporting process.
Our assessment continues to identify a medium potential for modern slavery risks across COS’s operations and supply chain. In FY26, we plan to continue overseas factory visits and focus further on supplier checks in areas including cleaning, labour hire, installation services and audio visual technology.
The work does not end when a supplier joins COS. Ongoing checks, factory observations and a way for people to speak up help us keep asking questions throughout the relationship.
