International Day of Peace is a wonderful opportunity to teach children about kindness, harmony, and understanding. It’s a day to encourage empathy, celebrate diversity, and inspire positive actions, even in young learners. One of the most engaging ways to mark this special day is through creative activities that will help children to reflect on the meaning of peace in their everyday lives.

To support this, we’ve created two fun and meaningful worksheets designed specifically for kids. These activities provide a hands-on way for children to explore important values such as cooperation, friendship, and respect.

The Words of Peace: Dove Worksheet encourages children to think about words and ideas that represent peace, while the Colour & Celebrate: Peace Worksheet allows them to express their creativity while connecting with the message of unity and friendship.

1. Words of Peace: Dove Worksheet

The Words of Peace: Dove Worksheet invites children to think deeply about words and ideas that represent peace. By writing down their own peace-inspired words, children can reflect on what harmony and kindness mean to them, while also learning to express their thoughts thoughtfully.

Materials Needed:

🕊️Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Print the Worksheets
Download and print both the dove worksheet and the strips worksheet.

2. Colour the Dove
Let each child colour their dove using crayons, coloured pencils, or markers. Encourage bold colours, patterns, or textures.

3. Brainstorm Peace Words
As a class, brainstorm short words or phrases about peace (for example: kindness, respect, friendship, sharing, unity, hope). Write the ideas on the board so children can choose from them.

4. Write on the Strips
Each child writes a different “word of peace” on each strip. They can also add small doodles or symbols next to the words.

5. Cut Out the Strips
Carefully cut the strips out along the lines.

6. Attach the Strips to the Dove
Glue or tape the strips across the dove’s wings and body, arranging them like feathers to build a colourful, symbolic “peace dove.”

7. Add Finishing Touches
Decorate with olive branches, hearts, or other peaceful symbols. Optionally add glitter, stickers, pom-poms, or rhinestones for extra sparkle.

8. Display the Doves
Hang finished doves on a bulletin board, classroom wall, or hallway. Group them to create a “Wall of Peace”, a flock of doves that celebrates the class’s ideas.

2. Colour & Celebrate: Peace Worksheet

The Colouring Worksheet lets children bring their creativity to life as they colour doves, timeless symbols of peace. Through this artistic activity, they connect with the values of unity and friendship in a fun, hands-on, and memorable way.

Materials Needed:

🕊️Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Print the Worksheet
Start by downloading and printing the Peace colouring worksheet for each child.

2. Prepare Your Supplies
Gather colouring materials such as crayons, coloured markers, or pencil colours.

3. Talk About Peace
Begin with a short discussion: What does peace mean to you? Write children’s ideas on the board such as: love, friendship, kindness, sharing, unity, respect.

4. Colour the Worksheet
Invite the children to colour the peace-themed worksheet using bright and cheerful colours of their choice.

5. Add Peace Words
Inside the dove, globe, heart, or clouds on the worksheet, encourage children to write words or short phrases that represent peace.

6. Share in a Circle
Once finished, gather the group in a circle. Each child can hold up their artwork and share one peace word or phrase that’s special to them.
