Step 4: Cut Out the Template

Using scissors, carefully cut along the outside border of the chatterbox template.

Step 5: Make the First Folds

Place the worksheet face down. Fold the square in half from top to bottom, then unfold. Next, fold it in half from side to side and unfold again. You should now see crease lines crossing through the centre.

Step 6: Fold the Corners to the Centre

Bring each of the four corners into the middle of the square so that they meet at the centre point. Press down firmly along the folds.

Step 7: Turn and Fold Again

Turn the paper over. Once again, fold each corner into the centre and crease the folds neatly.

Step 8: Create the Chatterbox Shape

Fold the square in half, then unfold and fold it in half the other way. Carefully slide your thumbs and index fingers underneath the four flaps to create the chatterbox shape.

Step 9: Start Playing

Find a peer and take turns using the chatterbox. Choose a colour or number, open and close the chatterbox as directed, and answer the question or complete the activity hidden inside.
