Workers wasting 3 hours a week on unnecessary meetings

COS Co-CEO Belinda Lyone recently shared the surprise findings of a new COS commissioned survey with HR leader. According to the survey, two-thirds of Australian employees are losing nearly three work hours each week in unproductive meetings. This is equivalent to almost four full working weeks a year. While leaders and business owners report attending fewer of these meetings, the impact on staff productivity and morale is significant.

“This study highlights how a significant number of hours are being spent on team members attending meetings that could instead be allocated to more productive tasks. This not only costs the company money but can also lead to frustration,” explains Belinda Lyone.

COS has implemented practical strategies like shorter meeting times, designated “no-meeting Thursdays”, and setting clear objectives for each meeting. By encouraging staff to opt out when appropriate and supporting a better work-life balance, COS is creating a more productive and engaged workforce.
